I.  God's design for the church is unity, but not uniformity.  (1 Cor. 12:12-13)

     A.  Divine reasons for unity in the church.

          1.  One church, the body of Christ.

          2.  One baptism with the Spirit.

          3.  One indwelling of the Spirit.

     B.  Earthly manifestations of unity in the church.

          1.  Ethnic and prior religious differences are negated in the church.

          2.  Social differences are negated in the church.

II.  God's design for the church includes a diversity that allows the body to function at its maximum potential.  (1 Cor. 12:12)

     A.  The body must have differing parts or it will not continue.

     B.  The church body that demands uniformity is bound to become a disunity.
