Salvation Results in Respect for God
"So long as I do not have a proper fear of God, I will never be a normal biblical Christian, nor will I ever be pleasing to the One who died to save me."
I. Fear of God means that we have an awe-filled respect for One who is holy. (1 Peter 1:17)
II. Fear of God is a must in the Christian life. (1 Peter 1:17)
III. Fearing God brings meads (i.e., rewards) into our lives.
A. Knowledge is one of the benefits of fearing God. (Prov. 1:7)
B. Righteous living is a benefit of fearing God. (Prov. 3:7)
C. Confidence is a reward of fearing God. (Prov. 14:26)
D. Life is a reward of fearing God. (Prov. 19:23)
E. Wisdom is a reward of fearing God. (See the entire book of Proverbs)
IV. Fear of God has a threefold motivation.
A. God's impartiality as a judge should motivate us to fear Him
B. The price of our redemption should motivate us to fear God.
C. The truth about sin should motivate us to fear God.
