Salvation Results in Respect for God

"So long as I do not have a proper fear of God, I will never be a normal biblical Christian, nor will I ever be pleasing to the One who died to save me."

I.  Fear of God means that we have an awe-filled respect for One who is holy.  (1 Peter 1:17)

II.  Fear of God is a must in the Christian life.  (1 Peter 1:17)

III.  Fearing God brings meads (i.e., rewards) into our lives.

     A.  Knowledge is one of the benefits of fearing God.  (Prov. 1:7)

     B.  Righteous living is a benefit of fearing God.  (Prov. 3:7)

     C.  Confidence is a reward of fearing God.  (Prov. 14:26)

     D.  Life is a reward of fearing God.  (Prov. 19:23)

     E.  Wisdom is a reward of fearing God.  (See the entire book of Proverbs)

IV.  Fear of God has a threefold motivation.

     A.  God's impartiality as a judge should motivate us to fear Him

     B.  The price of our redemption should motivate us to fear God.

     C.  The truth about sin should motivate us to fear God.
