Salvation Results in Spiritual Hunger (1 Peter 2:1-3)

I.  We must put away evil and pursue truth.  (1 Pet. 2:1-2)

     A.  We prepare for Bible study by purging evil from our lives.  (1 Pet. 2:1)

          1.  We must purge our lives of all malice.

          2.  We must purge our lives of guile.

          3.  We must purge our lives of hypocrisy.

          4.  We must purge our lives of envy.

          5.  We must purge our lives of slander.

     B.  We must hunger for God's truth.  ("Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk," i.e., the Word of God)

II.  We must hunger for the Word for personal growth and outreach.  (1 Pet. 2:2-3)

     A.  We can only come to Christ through His Word.  (see 1:23)

     B.  We have only one proper Word, i.e., the Bible.

     C.  We have only one necessary Word.  (A newborn longs for milk and not for meat.)

     D.  We have only one Word that will bring others to Christ.

     E.  We have God's Word, not man's word.  (2 Tim. 3:16)

     F.  We have the truth.  (John 17:17)

     G.  We have the most exciting Word.

     H.  We have the foundation of all the Christians believe and practice.

     I.  We have God's revelation of Himself to man.
