All Are Children; But Not All Are Children

True Knowledge; True Assurance

Aug 3, 2014

Series: True Knowledge; True Assurance | Category: 1, 2, 3 John | Scripture: 1 John 2:12–2:14 | Tags: Sermons, Lordship, John, Disciples, children, Sanctification, Assurance

I.  All who are Christ's are children of God.  (1 John 2:12)

     2:1a; 2:28; 3:1a; 3:2a; 3:7; 3:10; 3:18; 4:4; 5:2; 5:21

We can rightly all (i.e., all true believers) be referred to as little children.

II.  Not all who are God's children are still children in the sense of maturity.  (1 John 2:13c/ 14a)

     A.  Those who are still children in the faith know, along with all believers, that their sins have been forgiven.

     B.  Those who are still children know the Father and little else.

          1.  A false theology may contribute to a lack of growth.

          2.  A failed pulpit may contribute to a lack of growth.

          3.  A faulty mindset may contribute to a lack of growth.
