I. God is both Father and Master to Israel.
A. God is said to be Israel's Father.
Exod. 4:22-23; Deut. 32:5-6, 18-20; Ps. 103:13; Isa. 1:2; etc.
B. God is said to be Israel's Master.
Mal. 1:12, 14; Gen. 18:27f.; Exod. 4:10; Josh. 7:8; 1 Kgs. 3:10; etc.
II. God demanded that children honor their father.
Exod. 20:12
III. God expects that the knowledge that fathers are to be honored is universal.
