The Consequences

I.  Condemnation is appropriate when sin occurs.  (2 Sam. 12:7-9)

II.  Consequences result with sin occurs.  (2 Sam. 12:10-12)

     A.  Because of his violence, there would be violence among those of his own household.  (12:10)

     B.  Because of his sinful actions, evil actions among those in his own household would flourish.  (12:11a)

     C.  Because of immorality, there would be immorality within his own household.  (12:11b-12)

     D.  Because of his grave sins, crass behaviors among his family members will serve to embarass him and his descendants.  (12:11c-12)

III.  Covenant faithfulness often softens God's hand of judgment against His people.  (2 Sam. 12:13-15)

IV.  Consequences promised are consequences assured.  (2 Sam. 12:16-23; 13:1-33; 15:1-37; 16:20-23; 18:14-15; 1 Kings 2:13-25)
